Degree Requirements
English/Mass Communication Degree Program
Degree Requirements
For the English major, students must choose one of the following degree programs:
English/Creative Writing Degree Program
English/Liberal Arts Degree Program
English/Mass Communication Degree Program
Completion of requirements for a bachelor's degree, including general education requirements, 120 credits of acceptable coursework, and at least 42 upper-division credits.
Completion of core English courses:
Completion of the core Communication requirements (21 hours):
Completion of three Communication electives (9 hours) (two courses must be 300 or 400 level):
Completion of three non-mass communication elective courses (9 hours):
A portfolio of the student's work in the major must be submitted during the senior year. Guidelines for assembling the portfolio and deadlines for submission are available from the department head or the major advisor.
A minor in an area of specialization is recommended.
JOUR 496 is highly recommended for all Mass Communication students.
