Degree Requirements
English/Creative Writing Degree Program
Degree Requirements
For the English major, students must choose one of the following degree programs:
English/Creative Writing Degree Program
Completion of requirements for a bachelor's degree, including general education requirements, 120 credits of acceptable coursework, and at least 42 upper-division credits.
Completion of the Core English Requirements (24 hours):
Completion of the Core Creative Writing Requirements (15 hours):
Two electives: choose any 300-or 400-level English course.
Students must complete one semester of a world language at the 200 level or higher (3 hours).
Completion of portfolio requirements as specified by department.
English/Liberal Arts Degree Program
English/Mass Communication Degree Program
English/Secondary Teacher Licensure
English/Creative Writing Degree Program

ENG 363: Advanced Composition (3 hours)
ENG 395: American Literature II (3 hours)
ENG 458: Modern Poetry (3 hours)
ENG 480: Contemporary Literary Theory (3 hours)
Completion of the Core Creative Writing Requirements (15 hours):
ENG 327: Intro to Creative Writing (3 hours)
ENG 426: Creative Writing: Poetry (3 hours)
ENG 427: Creative Writing: Fiction (3 hours)
ENG 428: Senior Writing Project (3 hours)
